JOIN popular British historian, author, broadcaster and award-winning journalist, DAN JONES on another exciting Adventure!  BE THERE as the stories and times of one of Europe's most turbulent periods is brought to life!  Dan will lead us through the history of the Crusades in Spain!  He will present information from his book, Crusaders in places, when allowed, where the stories and action ACTUALLY TOOK PLACE!!  Dan will give you the information, show you around, and answer your questions!  Dan is with us for the entire adventure!  What could be better!

ITINERARY AND EXCURSIONS

Day 1 - Saturday

​Travel

Today we arrive in Seville and transfer to our hotel.  ​In the evening we will gather for dinner and "Welcome Meeting".
 

Day 2 - Sunday
​April 7, 2024 
​Seville

Following breakfast, we board our bus to begin our adventure!  Today, we spend the entire day in Seville, an area kept safe from Crusader invasion for hundreds of years, in part because of its incredible garrisons.  Later, we will stop for lunch at a local restaurant.

Day 3 - Monday

Ronda, Grazalema,
​Wine Tasting, and Flamenco Dancing!

Following breakfast, we depart for the Ronda.  This ancient Islamic stronghold was controlled by the Moors for nearly 600 years until it was finally taken by the Spanish.  We will see the Arab fortifications there including towers and bridges.  We may have the opportunity to see the public baths dating back 700 years.
Later, we will enjoy wine tasting and a light lunch, followed by a short visit to Grazalema. We will return to Seville to freshen up and prepare for dinner and a Flamenco Show!
 

​Day 4 - Tuesday

Cordoba: Madinat al-Zahara

Today we depart for the beautiful city of Cordoba, where we will visit Madinat al-Zahara, an ancient center of government for the Umayyad dynasty that still contains the ruins of the original city.

Day 5 - Wednesday

This morning we will spend the day in Cordoba.  After a tour the city and you will have the remainder of the day to explore on your own.

Day 6 - Thursday

Granada

Today, we visit a local olive producer with tasting and snacks.  Following this visit, we continue on to Granada to visit the areas where several battles took place during the 15th century that resulted in the expulsion of thousands of Jews and Muslims as Spain gained religious control through the Inquisition.

Day 7 - Friday
April 12, 2024
Alhambra

Following breakfast, our coach will arrive to take us to the incredible Islamic palace of Alhambra, that later fell to the Spanish.  It is best known as the site where Christopher Columbus presented his plans to King Ferdinand of Aragon and Queen Isabella of Castile that would bring him to America.   
After a thorough visit of the palace, you will have free time for lunch on your own, after which we will travel back to Seville.  Our Farewell Dinner will be held that evening.

​Leave for home

We will transfer to the airport for our return trip home, taking with us connections to new friends and memories of a wonderful adventure!
